Balancing responsibilities at work and at home can be challenging. Supporting the family and childcare needs of our employees is a campus-wide OneU effort. The following resources have been organized to help connect employees to the resources they need.
See the Center for Child Care and Family Resources web page for a variety of resources including UMatch (child and pet care, as well as tutoring), after-school programs, campus child care centers and local child care centers.
See the Wellness & Integrative Health website for a variety of resources, including:
- Join a walking challenge
- Sign up for a fitness class
- Consult a registered dietician
- Find educational wellness materials
- Create a wellness challenge for your department
Several activities will also count for WellU Activity credit.
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available to all employees, even if they are not enrolled in the Employee Health Care Plan, for their enrolled dependents, and other family members residing in the employee's household. The EAP is currently available for all University employees, regardless of benefit-eligible status or enrollment in the health plan.

Utah Retirement Systems
Unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances such as sudden illness, family crisis, or natural disaster can result in a temporary financial hardship. The OneUCares Faculty and Staff Emergency Fund (the “OneUCares Fund”) was established to assist eligible University of Utah faculty and staff during such times. The OneUCares Fund can provide financial resources to a single household up to a maximum of $500.00.
May 2023 update: At this time, the OneUCares Fund does not have emergency funds available to provide to employees. Employees who are struggling financially may want to consider taking a loan from their retirement plan account (unless they are enrolled in a Utah Retirement Systems plan).
Legal residents of Utah who are unemployed or underemployed due to COVID-19 qualify to take courses at no cost.
