What This Event Means


Use this event to update your benefits when a covered family member passes away.

This includes:

  • Removing the dependent from your coverage
  • Reviewing and updating your benefit elections

 

What You May Need to Do


After a loss, you may want to:

  • Remove the dependent from your benefits
  • Review your coverage levels
  • Update beneficiaries for life insurance or retirement plans

 

When to Act


There is no strict 30-day requirement for this event, but you should take action as soon as possible.

 

Important


If a Qualified Family Member is no longer eligible, you must take action promptly.

How to Update


  1. Log in to UBenefits
  2. Select Change Your Benefits
  3. Choose the Death of a Family Member event
  4. Enter the date of death
  5. Update your benefits as needed
  6. Review and submit
